The Reverend Canon Cheryl BirdBTh (UNISA), BA (Hons) (UWC)

Cheryl Bird worked at First National Bank from 1974-2004; she was appointed Human Resources Manager in 1987, and served as Sales and Service Manager from 2000 until March 2004.

In December 2004 she was ordained Deacon; in September 2005, she was ordained to the priesthood (full time, self-supporting), and worked as a curate in the Parish of Reconciliation, Manenberg. In July 2008, she was employed as stipendiary priest.

She was priest-in-charge at the Church of the Ascension in Devils Peak;  she is also Provincial and Diocesan Gender Desk co-ordinator. She serves as as a Canon of the Cathedral of St George. She is an invited guest to Provincial Synod and Provincial Standing Committee, and was a delegate to the international Anglican Global South Conference held in Bangkok. She is a Warden to the Fellowship of Vocation.
